a very close friend of mine had a baby on the 7th, a beautiful little girl. its amazing and such a special feeling when you see one of your best friends become a mother. i was truely moved and (apart from the tears) so proud of my friend, who shared the same kinder as I did, she was gorgeous.

I have always since I can remember called my friend "miff" like the rabbit and she in turn called me "minx" like a cat. we always said that we would be like a rabbit and cat if we one day turned into animals. i did this little print for her, oh yes and her husband (a lovely gut too) is a policeman... the drawing will make more sense now. happy tuesday xxx

hi all, having a nice week? here its been hot, 26 yesturday and again today! Thursday will be 35!!

I have had a busy week this week, as im sure all of us have! I have been taking the time to get my etsy store up and running again. its taken a while but im happy now, I have done my about page and added about 10 items, most importantly my love themed ones in time for valentines day.

i have done a love birds print, similar to my header here and put that up too. at the moment I am not posting internationally but will be in the future.

I also have some exciting news. I will be featured in GT magazine this saturday. An at home feature at my house, eeekkk im a little nervous to see how it all turned out, but is very exciting, i will post some pictures up after the weekend.

I will also be doing the feb challenge again and will be having a give away for my followers. Im sorry I have been slack lately though, for my new followers this is not great- ekkk sorry :(

hi! what a busy week i have had! thank you to my new followers... very excited to have you here. 

i have been so scatty this week, my brain has been a fried apricot. and i keep telling myself to "get into it and concentrate"... not that i havn't been doing a thousand things! 

i keep saying to my husband " the time has come the walrus said" from alice in wonderland hahah, and i just keep saying it and sayng it. the time has come! thats for sure. 

so this morning as i was getting ready to leave for work, i said "the time has come (for work) the walrus said!" and jarrod said " i think thats enough of that saying!" and then this illustration popped into my head that i decided to do tonight!

did it again

ok so i thought i wouldn't do it and i swore to myself not too... be M.I.A that is. im sorry followers and friends, i haven't been very exciting lately, but iv just been so hectic (yes yes i know, we all have). i NEED to make more time. i wont go on about it though... 

anyway a few things have been happening in the world of victor fox, first a formost... drum roll please... i got into the new kids print and pattern book! woooohoooo! im so so excited. i wont spill the beans on what will be featured, but you will have to keep an eye out. i hope there will be books left in australia as between myself and my mum- i think we will purchase the ENTIRE shipment! im really so excited.

when i found out i went straight over to mum and dads to tell them... mum went up to her bedroom and then came down minutes later with a little book in her hand. it was her 'santa's book', its where she writes all our presents in for christmas that coming year (although we are all over the age of 25 now, it keeps her very organised and to be honest i should take a leaf out of that book, literally!) anyway she said look at this, and showed me a list she had written a few years ago for me... on the top was "bowie style's print and pattern book". mum said something that i didn't really think of, and was quite awesome. she said " a few years ago that book was number one on your christmas list, now your actually IN IT!" aggghhhhh so that made me all that little bit excited!

on another note, i have been really enjoying my drawing again lately... its hard when you go through the stages when you feel that you are shit, and that everyone else is so much better. i have been thinking of quotes lately to inspire me and to get me pumped- happy to be myself. the poor girls i work with, hear it every day from me " im shit, my drawings are like 2 year olds, etc etc". enough is enough clare! so this is the end of that... only positive comments from me now. 

on that note, i think when you become happier in your skin, everything seems peachy! i did this drawing tonight and was wrapped with it. so thats it... happy thoughts for me!

just a little something for saturday

phheeeeeewwwwww, what a huge day. i have been run off my feet. 

whilst my husband went off and played football, i decided to go look through some open houses. (always love to do that) Mum came with me which was nice.. good to share ideas/ thoughts with.

we ended up going through 6 houses... its that sort of thing where you want them ALL and NOW! 

anyway after all that i came home and thought i would get stuck into a job im working on at the moment.

i have been asked to draw some illustrations to put up and decorate a primary school. this one is for the sick bay and a work in progress. i will be putting the actual scanned dress fabric in the little girls dress and i think the same for the boys shirt or shorts. i hope you like it so far.

happy friday everyone! i wanted to share with you a burst of inspiration. for my foto friday i am dedicating the post to my great friend jimmy. he is one talented guy and im only so slightly (immensely) jealous of his work and what he comes up with.

we worked together as beavis and butthead for 2 years at rip curl. jimmy continued to work at rip curl for a further 4 years and now has branched out on his own. 

he is so incredible and his ideas never cease to amaze me! check out more of his work here.

february challenge

mrs creative chantelle, over at fat mum slim, has made up a challenge for instagram for february. 29 photos in 29 days. each day has a theme for the photographs. i love it... however i have decided to do this challenge through illustration, still with the themes but just drawn not photographed. i am going to draw something a day for 29 days. i will post them each day and see how i go. i have also committed to a bikram yoga february challenge (hmmmm yes ive conquered 2 days already but by jingoes its hard... oh yes it is the month for challenges. im up for it. hang on, yes february has already set sail, lets just say there will be a double whammy of the illustrations tonight for the late start! - 'your view today, and words" x

hi all, just thought id show a little peeky of what im working on at the moment for kaisercraft. loooved doing this range. as im not an overly girly girl, i sometimes cringe when i get given a "girly" brief. this one was great, modern funky girly... and just my sort of style. you will have to wait till april to see the whole lot... or if you happened to be heading to the craft and hobby show in anaheim, you'll see it there.

yey us! i was so excited to see in the latest geelong bride magazine, my add for meaghan cook photography. flicking through the pages (thrilled to be able to just enjoy the magazine, rather than studying it for wedding ideas!) i was so proud. bright, bold and different from the norm, it really caught my eye...something that both meghan and i discussed over beers and its importance. so here it is...

creative womans circle

im so excited... this saturday im off to the creative womans circle in melbourne. there will be a speech from the great Shelley Panton who is an amazing potter. The event will be held at frankie and swiss' new studio... and i am busting at the seams to go! michelle the director of frankie and swiss has asked me to design some prints to hang up in her studio for saturday. im thrilled. a while ago i started this illustration of me on a bad day... the weekend ended up being a great one, but i never got round to illustrating it (well these one stretch the truth just a weeee bit!) . so these are the prints that will be displayed at frankie and swiss studio this weekend. yey! there will be so many wonderful ladies there who i admire... one being dawn tan. dawn illustrates alot for frankie magazine (aaahhhhh i know... tell me about it!). pllleaaaase hurry up saturday you are too far away for my liking!

what i (wish i) wore today

i have been so sick the last few days... and im over it... cough cough!

i slept from 11pm last night till 3pm this afternoon... crazy i know. but must have needed it.

whilst sipping my lemsip tonight- i drew these in the spirit of gemma correll. this is what i wished i had of felt like today (or yesturday or even sunday). ill be back to my normal self soon hopefully. xx

41 orchard sneak

gee i forgot to show you a sneak peak of the work im doing with 41 orchard at the moment. iv got about 6 designs on the go, but wanted to share (even just a taste or tease) of my favourite. ill be catching up with 41 orchard next week to get some samples out... cant wait to see them. its been a bit hard to share the ideas as some of them werent finalized... anyway stay tuned x

the collective with meaghan cook

its been six months from the day we met. set up to meet on a blind date. i had never met meaghan before, nor knew what she looked like.

but i knew when i saw her!

i had been thinking to myself and wondering "what will she be like? how will i know who she is? do i kiss her hello, hug her, or be totally out of character and shake her hand? what if she thinks im too immature? or unprofessional?" well the minute we were introduced, all that flew out the door. my thoughts quickly turned to " why the hell has it taken us our whole lives to meet?".

meaghan had bought my cuckoo clock from a shop in barwon heads, and then searched out to find me. Thank goodness i listened to my fiance and put my contact details on the back of it.

when we caught up, meaghan told me that she wanted to create a new look for her branding- to spice things up a bit a really portray who she was.

we stayed and chatted for about 3 hours, and i wished it was longer. we just clicked.

i was now thinking "is this a meeting to be your newest friend" I ACCEPT!!!

i have had so much fun creating her identity visually and linking her ideas to the drawings. there was reason behind every illustration i did, and every stroke of my watercolour brush.

apart from the fact she is awesome, and i mean really awesome, meaghan 'got' me too. she found me first and that really gave me a lot of confidence to take on her project.

so, this is a bit of what we have been beavering away at, and what a project it was. the logo, branding, web, blog, swing tags...the whole lot. countless hours and stupid amounts of text messages, 5 million emails, 4 or 5 catch ups, and funny delirious jokes in between.

its been brilliant. it really has, and what a 'feather in my cap' as my pa always says to me.

i have been extremely lucky to have a client like her. too lucky really. she always gave me so much encouragement, and there were times there i thought 'right clare, you really can do this!' get your shit sorted!

i know you will be reading this meaghan, and i want to tell you how much i adore you. your brilliant. so much of your work and how you work is all about 'others'. YOU my friend are the talented one, and its been just the best working with you.

oh what a week!

woooo wiiii its friday, and i tell you what, it DID NOT take long to twist the top off my beer tonight!

how busy has this week been...wowsa!

i have so many jobs on at the moment and with the wedding planning and all, its all been crazy. i also hurt my back pretty bad and have been struggling this week.

hey, i must ask, (speaking of weddings) all of you married girls out there... how on earth did you get everything 'sorted'? i think im going to write a book...'the brides book, its ok not to know a thing!"

i mean seriously, no one tells you a thing. yes i admit 100 layer cake and green wedding shoes you are my true loves, but you dont help. if anything they make me go "hmmm ok devine, HOW can i get that?!" and unless youve done it all before, it actually is quite difficult.

im a graphic designer (who knows a bit about colour, and putting things together etc), so i can imagine those who have no clue where to start-gee!... RIGHT that book is coming!

Take a big breath! so because of this insane week, disheveled hair and all, it was really nice to come home to a warm home and just draw for 'me'. not for a job, not for something that was due last week, not to panic- just enjoy.

this is what i did tonight, and really enjoyed just drawing to how i was feeling... i think it sums me up!!

hi all.... geeeeeee! i have been extremely slack with my posts of late. I have had a busy few weeks, moving out of our townhouse (waah), work has been insanely busy and with all the wedding plans- poor old victor fox blog was left out of the equation.

not much to post on today (sorry) just a small f print. thank goodness for fridays i say.

whats on for the weekend? im off to daylesford to check out some more things for my wedding.... cannot wait!! there is also a designers makers market there on saturday... (mmm yes great timing clare!) i will be dragging my fiance along to that.

lets hope there is one one hell of a comfy man seat because there will be no rushing me.
