Project Ten

I'm super excited to share with you a project I was working on a little while ago.

I worked closely with the lovely Jacquie from Project Ten Australia to design some prints for her awesome oversized, extremely light Tote Bags, and SO well priced. Perfect for a Christmas treat... I'll be buying loads! Head over here for a better look.

Its finally the weekend and yey to that! Last night I attended a fundraiser to raise money for an Orphanage in Cambodia, run by my very talented photographer friend Tina Wilkinson of photosbytina.

Tina and her husband will be heading to Cambodia in a few weeks and are doing an incredible job of raising money for the children in Siam Reap. 

There was lots of clothes to be purchased (I scored an awesome leather jacket) and prizes. I donated one of my new glitter skull prints. 

These are my newest and favourite edition so far... they have been so fun to create, a little time consuming but fun! 

Once I get my butt into gear and get onto my website, they will be available for purchase... for now, its just all personal sales! So many things so do- so little time.

making me happy

it comes the time of the year again where the hot summer days are getting less often and when we start to think about open fires and cuddly scarves. 
just as I was starting to feel a little miserable that the wooly socks were making a come back I thought I would take a look back at the patterns and work I have done that have made me happy and feel bright.

i am thinking of making a look book of my patterns and prints (just for myself). All different and not necessarily matching. Just the ones that I felt good designing too... none that had me tilting my head back and forth countless times.

back on etsy (again)

hello again! Just wanted to share with you that i have put some prints on my etsy shop again...iv been a little slack with that, so hopefully this is the start of something great! (fingers crossed)

I only have a few at the moment and will see how they go!

gee nearly a week of this already! its been great fun. today was a bit of a challenge. jess, jules and i were discussing it at work of the possibilities of buttons... so this was my take on buttons. i thought of it whilst eating my tea (spag bol! mmmm-m) a fox, victor fox that is, on a bike, a bike with button wheels, well a penny fathing bike, with button wheels. 

i also wanted to say a big thank you to rebecca from little tree designs for including me in her post about top 10 blogs! thanks rebecca... it really made my day, and a big thank you to all of you lovely people who came from that blog and decided to follow me and my friend victor.

by the way... update on the bikram yoga- today was a joke, a pure joke. i got all woozie and a flung myself to the floor to stop myself from fainting. i was NOT COOL!

woooo wiii christmas

getting in the christmas spirit.. and boy! do i love it! so here is a little foxy print i did with some matching festive pears. (WHAT A GEEK) but at the moment im listening to maria carey christmas... i know i know... i may loose some followers, but i dont care, i love it and i just love christmas. its in the air xx

hi... yes i know i promised some wedding treats, but sorry work has been so busy lately that iv been so held up! they are on their way though, dont you worry about that. i decided that i would post about something i love... love! isnt love the best when you are smack bang, up to your neck, head of heels in it! oooo i love it. you may have seen one of these before, but i added too more.the wooden one is my favourite...a little different from the others but i like him. happy hump day x

community health work

i have been busy lately with the wedding and all sorts... but i have also been busy with a project to help support a young mothers group in geelong.

I designed 2 tshirts in the help to promote the fair treatment of young mothers aged between 18-21, who quite often receive negative comments from others. The aim was to show that these young girls are proud of who they are and that they are doing all they can to give their babies the best life possible.

these were the final designs, i will post again when i get the samples.

it was great to be asked to be involved in such a powerful project. and these young girls SHOULD be very proud of who they are.

skip hop

hi everyone, apologies for my lack of posts. this wedding is keeping me quite busy as i thought it would. victor has not been forgotten,

just at the bottom of the pile, (unfortunately at the moment)

this is a short post but i wanted to share with you some exciting news.

i received an email a few months back from a lady from skip hop NYC... asking if i would do some work for their company... i thought originally that it couldn't be true... what! a New York company has emailed ME and asked ME to design for them? sorry? surely they must think its someone else. anyway... i have been working along, secretly squirrel like on the new project for skip hop. i cannot give any sneak peaks or any themes, but all i can say is that ill keep you posted... and ill let you know as soon as it is available... (these images are of existing skip hop product)

skip hop is an incredible children's linen, play equipment, gorgeous company that does all things cute for kids, im thrilled and very chuff to be apart of this. yey for me! ( i think i can say that... yes i can... yey yey for me!)

how to get to know clare in 10 facts

ok so I have thought long and hard about these 10 things about myself. im sorry i have taken a long time, i (i know i know) been so busy!

first off, let me introduce myself if you dont already know me. my name is clare miller. im 27 years old…i am a graphic designer for kaisercraft by day and an illustrator and creator by night... now for the juicey stuff

1) i am petrified of ghost, no no petrified is not a powerful enough word…beside myself, horrified, phobia style scared of ghosts! i cannot even talk about them! i cannot think about them and certainly hate people starting off with the sentense “lets tell ghost stories”. it is also not funny, don’t laugh! I swear to god I am petrified…i have never seen one and nore do i even want to think about the possibility. hideous… im getting tears just writing this. YUK!

2) I cannot stand sweet and savory mixed together. whoever thought putting pinapple on a pizza was a good idea needs serious help. i hate it. i hate cream and jam on muffins (i have to have butter) i hate (like I said) pinapple on pizza, jam/ honey or marmelade on toast.. are you serious??! Fairy bread (who ever is not sure of this its sprinkles on bread), honey or apricot chicken- WHAT?! mandarine in a salad- excuse me?! apple sauce with pork, maple syrup on bacon- common!

note: I consider toast/bread and muffins to be savory… maybe that’s weird but hey that’s how it is!

3)i have the most incredible finace. and he is just gorgeous. he is so smart, funny, fit and got the best body… thankkkk-you! so coordinared in any sport he plays, has the most beautiful eyes. . we are taloir made. i adore him and am so thankful for every day he is in my life and look forward to every day in the future. we also were lucky enough to meet eachother in a pub in thailand and we are both from the same town half way across the world- pretty special i think.

4) i worked for rip curl for 2 years in advertising. i used to go on great photoshoots all over the world, where i was incharge of making the models look hot! one of most favourite memories is when i floated on a boat in the marshall islands for 10 days on the most incredible photoshoot of all time. there was about 8 of us all up on the boat including the surfers and models. i spent new years on a tropical island (where basically noone had stepped foot) eating sword fish which one of the indo boys caught that day and cooked under the sand.

5) time to get embarressing... from year 7, me and my friend meg were obsessed... insanely, mad teenage girl obsessed with the band take that. howard and mark were my favourite. when they broke up. i locked myself in my room playing their cd's and crying for hours! ahahahahhaah. in year 8 my family and hers were in sydney. we made our dads drive out of the way to a hotel where we heard that take that had stayed a few years ago. we stood in the foyer and took a photo of ourselves...we then proceeded to skate our feet across every square inch of the floor so that we could say ' we have stood where take that have stood!'

6) i can and love to eat lemons like oranges. i cut them up and without a wince or a twinge of the eye i can and looove to enhale the whole thing, every bit of it. mmmm-m!

7) i cant touch cotton wool balls..arrrgggggg! when people hold them and grind them my whole body goes crazy. when i think about holding them, i get shivers all over my body and the inside of my bottom teeth get all sensative. bbllllaaa!

8) i bite my nails. no i am shocking. absolutely terrible. and have been for years, as long as i can remember. they are stubbs. my dad always used to say to me as a little girl that the day i get engaged i will have to hold my hand into a fist so that people dont see my nails when showing them my ring. and guess what i did last year when i got engaged... yep!

9) i think im am extremely emotionally intelligent and aware of peoples behaviour. i love to help people and to feel i have made them feel better. i hate bullying and when people are left out. i actually cried in the movie nutty professor because i couldnt stand how awful they were being to the fat man. i hate it so much when i can see people are feeling left out of a conversation or feeling unhappy. i honestly cry myself when i see others upset, and i will always try to make others feel special, included or better in any way i can.

10) i am (in the words of my dad) " a thousand miles an hour with my ass on fire". maybe because i am creative?? i dont know. and scatty, jumping from one thing to another in a flash! i can have a terribly messy room, but concentrate on having a vase on my bed side table with beautiful flowers and make that look amazing whilst the rest of my room is a bomb. i can be running late to something, not even dressed but can stop in my tracks to peel the sticker off my new candle that has been annoying me! im hopeless. i catch up with friends and have to imaginarly 'post-it mark' my ideas because i have jumped from one thing to another so quickly that i will forget if i dont. in a way i love it though, i think thats what makes me live each minute as i do.

thanks for reading my 10 special things that you didnt know about me. i would like to now pass on the creative award to the lovely belinda strong of honey jumble. what can i say... i adore her work! its just brilliant and each idea of hers never ceases to amaze me! her use of colour and expression on her characters is the best! my favourite (i wonder why) is her magic fox cusion! so there you go bee... i cant wait to hear 10 things about you, and thanks for having such a great blog!

41 orchard sneak

gee i forgot to show you a sneak peak of the work im doing with 41 orchard at the moment. iv got about 6 designs on the go, but wanted to share (even just a taste or tease) of my favourite. ill be catching up with 41 orchard next week to get some samples out... cant wait to see them. its been a bit hard to share the ideas as some of them werent finalized... anyway stay tuned x

crazy week again peeps, so sorry for the lack of attention to my blog. alot of my energy has been taken up by instagram, its called an addiction i think! addicted as alot of people may be...that top foxy was a very keen, very alive, very healthy sneak i met about 3 years ago. not afraid to eat food right out of my hand. that bottom foxy is not so alive, but still beautiful... poor ol thing. please note: i DO realize that being able to use instagram does not make me a photographer...just so we're clear! hehe

afternoon owls!

evening all...iv possibly had the busiest 2 days ever. work has been insane, and when i say insane i mean when you curse yourself for needing to go to the bathroom as there is SIMPLY just no time! and when you dont even have time to refill your water bottle but your mouth is so parched you can barely breath- cotton mouth has taken over!!

yeah you know those days? i bet you all know exactly what i mean.

so tonight on my way home from work, i knew i had to options:

1} hate the world, snap at everyone and everything, and 'blame' the ridiculously busy day iv had. possibly stick a hazardous warning sticker over my mouth OR

2} take a breath, turn on some turns in the car, sing all the way home. stop by the florist and buy my mum some flowers, and instead of hating the sight of anything that resembles a mac - get to it and design something special.

and guess what i chose... you guessed it option 2! and do you know what? i feel so good for it.

my mum loved her flowers, i was able to really enjoy doing this owl pattern and i saved everyone else from hating the world by NOT choosing option one!

what a great night...

on that note, there is only so much you can put your body through and im going to collapse with exhaustion..... niiiiiiiiiiiiiight!

(and yes i may be a little delirious!)

more weddings

hi all, did everyone have a good weekend? they are not long enough hey! we had a very chilly one here in victoria! eeeekkkkkk! anyway nothing an open fire and some seriously cozy socks wont fix, or a nice glass of wine curled up on the couch watching a movie! mmm-m!

this weekend i sent my invites to the printers for our wedding- gee what a relief.

i found myself 2.5cms away from the computer screen checking spelling and grammar (yes and we all know i can draw but CANNOT spell!) proof reading the damn thing 40 thousand times that i know it all back the front and upside down now... people could just ring me and i will recite the invite to them.

and whilst busy with my wedding i am still designing others, something i will always love doing. this one was one i have just sent off, a gorgeous couple.

the theme was a whimsical wintery wedding- how nice.

iv got the sunday sadsies bad, so im off to watch march of the penguins to cheer me up... bless them! x

wednesdays work

gee im loving this short week bizo! hope the weeks going well for everyone.

i have been busy today seeing some of the work that i have been beavering away at in my 'bat cave' and it will soon be revealed. that job iv got going on ... the sneaky peaky i gave you all a few posts ago. i think friday is the day when its all systems go. i cant wait to show you all.

on another exciting front, i have been working on another top secret job! and today was the day it all got signed off!! yey. i cant show anything on this yet...sorry :(

here are a few prints i have been working on today for a bit of eye candy! these colours have been thrown about in some past work of mine and in recent mood boards. so i thought id give them a whirl and get some funky patterns happening!

oh what a week!

woooo wiiii its friday, and i tell you what, it DID NOT take long to twist the top off my beer tonight!

how busy has this week been...wowsa!

i have so many jobs on at the moment and with the wedding planning and all, its all been crazy. i also hurt my back pretty bad and have been struggling this week.

hey, i must ask, (speaking of weddings) all of you married girls out there... how on earth did you get everything 'sorted'? i think im going to write a book...'the brides book, its ok not to know a thing!"

i mean seriously, no one tells you a thing. yes i admit 100 layer cake and green wedding shoes you are my true loves, but you dont help. if anything they make me go "hmmm ok devine, HOW can i get that?!" and unless youve done it all before, it actually is quite difficult.

im a graphic designer (who knows a bit about colour, and putting things together etc), so i can imagine those who have no clue where to start-gee!... RIGHT that book is coming!

Take a big breath! so because of this insane week, disheveled hair and all, it was really nice to come home to a warm home and just draw for 'me'. not for a job, not for something that was due last week, not to panic- just enjoy.

this is what i did tonight, and really enjoyed just drawing to how i was feeling... i think it sums me up!!
